 symphonic band

The Lake Howell Symphonic Band is the second concert band of the Lake Howell Band Program. This ensemble is comprised of mostly under classmen and audition is not required for this band.

The band literature that this ensemble performs is dependant on the level of the group and private lessons are strongly suggested. Students are encouraged to participate in Solo and Ensemble Festival.

Also, students are encouraged to audition for All-County and All-State Bands. Each student is encouraged to own and use a metronome and tuner for their daily practice.

Students will be graded on participation, playing tests, and written tests. The Lake Howell Symphonic Band participates in FBA District Concert Band Festival when instrumentation permits.

Note: All ensembles perform in concerts put on by the Lake Howell Band Program. Typically, the Band Program performs a Winter Concert, Pre-Festival Concert, and the “Shades of Silver” Spring Concert. In addition, ensembles will perform in adjudicated FBA Festivals. These events are mandatory and dates for these events will be given far in advance.

Festivals and Concerts should be made a priority and students and parents should not schedule ANY other events for those dates. Failure to do so may result in the expulsion of the student from the Lake Howell Band Program. Only family emergencies will be excused.
