The Lake Howell Jazz Band is offered for students who strive for excellence in the area of Jazz. This band is made up of Trumpets, Trombones, Saxophones, Drums, Bass, Piano, and Auxiliary Percussion.

During the first semester, this ensemble meets once a week after school. During the second semester, the Jazz Band has a class that is offered in place of the Percussion Class. Depending on the enrollment of this class, the Jazz Band may continue to meet once a week for rehearsal.

Lake Howell Band members can only take this class in addition to their normal concert band class, not in place of it. Lake Howell High School students may be allowed enrollment in to this class for playing Piano or Bass. The Lake Howell Jazz Band performs a variety of Jazz literature and private lessons are strongly suggested.

This ensemble performs at FBA District Jazz Festival when instrumentation permits.

Note: All ensembles perform in concerts put on by the Lake Howell Band Program. Typically, the Band Program performs a Winter Concert, Pre-Festival Concert, and the “Shades of Silver” Spring Concert. In addition, ensembles will perform in adjudicated FBA Festivals. These events are mandatory and dates for these events will be given far in advance.

Festivals and Concerts should be made a priority and students and parents should not schedule ANY other events for those dates. Failure to do so may result in the expulsion of the student from the Lake Howell Band Program. Only family emergencies will be excused.
