The Lake Howell Wind Ensemble is the premiere concert band of the Lake Howell Band Program. Students are accepted into this ensemble by audition only. This ensemble is comprised of primarily upper classmen who strive to excel in instrumental music. In addition, it is expected that all of the students of this ensemble participate in Solo and Ensemble Festival.

Students are encouraged to audition for All-County and All-State Bands. The band literature that this ensemble performs is advanced and private lessons are strongly suggested. Each student is required to own and use a tuner and metronome for daily practice.

Students will be graded on participation, playing tests, and written tests. The Lake Howell Wind Ensemble participates in FBA District and State Concert Band Festivals. The Lake Howell Band Program is proud that the Wind Ensemble consistently receives superior ratings at FBA District Concert Festivals.

Note: All ensembles perform in concerts put on by the Lake Howell Band Program. Typically, the Band Program performs a Winter Concert, Pre-Festival Concert, and the “Shades of Silver” Spring Concert. In addition, ensembles will perform in adjudicated FBA Festivals. These events are mandatory and dates for these events will be given far in advance.


Festivals and Concerts should be made a priority and students and parents should not schedule ANY other events for those dates. Failure to do so may result in the expulsion of the student from the Lake Howell Band Program. Only family emergencies will be excused.
